What View History does#

  • Record visits reported by the Tools block.
  • Show recent viewers for a record.
  • Provide context around the time of a recorded edit.

Set up View History#

  1. Open View History in Toolbench and choose Turn on. Choose it as one of your 3 active free modules, or use Premium.
  2. Review and approve any access request shown by Shopify.
  3. Pin Tools once on a product page, once on an order page and once on a customer page.
  4. Ensure relevant staff have a role that includes Toolbench.
  5. Have an authorized staff member open a record, then check for the visit.

Settings and behavior#

A practical example#

When investigating a product edit, compare its time with recorded page visits. A visit provides context about access; it does not prove that person made the edit.

Permissions and data access#

No additional store-data scopes. The Tools block records staff visits using the page and session context Shopify provides.

Access is requested when you turn the module on. Other enabled modules may request their own permissions.

Requirements and limits#

  • Only pages with Tools can report visits.
  • Staff must have access to the app.
  • Visits cannot identify which person edited a field or track an edit made by another app.

If something is not working#

  • Check the pinned block for that particular page type and the staff role.
  • Unconfirmed setup can mean nobody with access has opened a record yet.
  • If a summary omits a recent viewer, check the full list and contact support if it stays inconsistent.
