What Shipping Rules does#
- Hide selected shipping options when conditions match.
- Rename rates so customers understand them.
- Move selected options to the bottom of the list.
- Combine AND / OR conditions and control rule priority.
Set up Shipping Rules#
- Open Shipping Rules in Toolbench and choose Turn on. Choose it as one of your 3 active free modules, or use Premium.
- Review and approve any access request shown by Shopify.
- Create a rule and give it a descriptive name.
- Set when the rule runs and select the shipping options it affects.
- Choose Hide, Rename or Move to the bottom, then save.
- Test checkout with matching and non-matching carts.
Settings and behavior#
| Setting or field | What it means |
|---|---|
| When | Cart, product, customer and delivery-address conditions. |
| Target | The shipping options the rule affects. |
| Action | Hide, rename or move to the bottom. |
| Priority | Rules run top to bottom. Hidden options stay hidden; the higher matching rename or move rule wins. |
A practical example#
Tag bulky products oversize. Hide rates whose names contain Express when a cart contains those products. Test both bulky and regular carts to confirm that suitable rates remain available.
Permissions and data access#
Reads products and manages the shipping customizations created by Toolbench.
Access is requested when you turn the module on. Other enabled modules may request their own permissions.
Requirements and limits#
- It does not create carrier-calculated rates or change shipping prices.
- Shopify keeps the cheapest shipping option first.
- Up to 50 rules with up to 20 conditions each; Shopify’s processing limits also apply.
- Use Discount Rules to reduce shipping prices or offer conditional free shipping.
If something is not working#
- Match the actual shipping-rate name shown at checkout.
- Check rule order when several rules affect the same rate.
- If no rates remain, disable the affected rule and review its conditions.
