What Discount Change History does#
- Record edits to discount values and eligibility.
- Follow changes to codes, schedules and usage limits.
- Compare old and new settings when a promotion behaves unexpectedly.
Set up Discount Change History#
- Open Discount Change History in Toolbench and choose Turn on. Choose it as one of your 3 active free modules, or use Premium.
- Review and approve any access request shown by Shopify.
- Allow the initial discount baseline to finish.
- Make a reversible change to a test discount in Shopify.
- Open the history and compare the recorded field values.
Settings and behavior#
| Setting or field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Value | The discount percentage or amount before and after an edit. |
| Codes and dates | Changes to codes and the promotion’s schedule. |
| Eligibility and limits | Changes to what a discount applies to and its usage limits. |
A practical example#
A promotion gives a larger reduction than intended. The history can show that its percentage changed from 10 to 20 and when it was recorded. Use that record to investigate and correct the discount in Shopify.
Permissions and data access#
Reads discounts and products. It records changes without creating or editing discounts.
Access is requested when you turn the module on. Other enabled modules may request their own permissions.
Requirements and limits#
- Earlier edits cannot be recovered when the module is enabled.
- Use Discount Rules to build offers; this module records changes to existing discounts.
- The log does not provide automatic rollback or identify the staff member who made an edit.
If something is not working#
- Wait for the starting baseline and confirm the discount changed after activation.
- If you want to create an offer, open Discount Rules instead.
