What Low Stock Alerts does#
- Review low-stock variants by location.
- Set a default threshold and override it with product or location rules.
- Clear resolved alerts when stock is replenished.
Set up Low Stock Alerts#
- Open Low Stock Alerts in Toolbench and choose Turn on. Choose it as one of your 3 active free modules, or use Premium.
- Review and approve any access request shown by Shopify.
- Allow the starting inventory scan to complete.
- Set the default threshold in Settings.
- Add exceptions for tags, collections, vendors, product types, SKUs, statuses or locations.
- Review the list and open affected products in Shopify.
Settings and behavior#
| Setting or field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Default threshold | Starts at 5 units; used when no rule matches. |
| Custom threshold | The first matching rule sets the threshold. |
| Location | Stock is assessed separately at each location. |
A practical example#
Use a default threshold of 5 and a rule for best sellers at 20. Those products appear earlier so the team can plan replenishment.
Permissions and data access#
Reads products, inventory, locations and home-market settings. It does not change stock quantities.
Access is requested when you turn the module on. Other enabled modules may request their own permissions.
Requirements and limits#
- Alerts are in-app; email alerts are not currently available.
- It is a threshold worklist, not forecasting or automatic purchasing.
- Rule order matters when several thresholds could match.
If something is not working#
- Compare the location’s stock with the applicable threshold.
- If results remain stale after a settings change, contact support with the product and rule.
- Report any mismatch between a rule test and the current rules.
